Exploring how we exist in both virtual and physical worlds, and the steady integration of people with technology, Robots and Avatars brings together artworks that find physical limbs rendered into pixels through the act of touch, collaborative landscapes stretching beyond the confines of popular gaming, and wearable technology that guides and confounds.

Selected entrants will have their piece edited into a 30 minute film by a professional filmmaker, along with other applicants, to be shown online from 7 April. Easter Holiday Workshops with YEP (Young Everyman Playhouse)

These one-day workshops for young people are perfect for those who want to develop theatre skills or just give something new a try. Wed 11 to Sat 14 April, with sessions available for 13-16 year olds and 16-22 year old, costing from £4 to £8.

Easter Boat Gathering and Sea Shanty Festival at the National Waterways Museum

There is plenty for all family at the National Waterways Museum this Easter, with children’s craft and music workshop plus costumed characters bringing Porters Row to life.

Shanty singers will be showing youngsters how to perform traditional songs and taking part in performances highlight some of the more gruesome and piratical aspects of life at sea.

Other events across the festival include demonstrations of traditional crafts, lectures, book stalls, lock demonstrations, battle of the tugs, boaters games and a tour of the museum’s Heritage Boatyard.

Add in the cafe, bbq and a mini real ale festival and the Easter Boat Gathering is Cheshire’s most colourful Easter event.

“Reach for the Stars” and see all your TV favourites with CBeebies Live at the Echo Arena (3rd April) promising plenty of sing along and foot stomping action.

Music and creativity collide at the Beatles Story where you can Design an Album Cover to take home (3-5th April) or create your very own Yellow Submarine Mobile (10-12th April)

Want to take the opportunity to relax and unwind in the great outdoors there are many places to choose from. Enjoy some traditional entertainment with Easter Egg Hunts and Donkey Rides everyday through the Easter holidays in Croxteth Park, travel to Another Place at Crosby Beach, play in the forest and feed the Red Squirrels at Formby or take a stroll in the countryside and experience Dream at Sutton Manor Colliery, St Helens.

With all this plus much more, it should hopefully be enough to distract everyone from reaching for another piece of chocolate…

Tales From Charles Dickens at St George’s Hall

The team that bought you the sell-out ‘Tales From Haunted Liverpool’ series return with an Easter treat for the whole family, Tales From Charles Dickens, as part of Dickens 2012 – an international celebration of the 200th Birthday of Charles Dickens.

Four locally known actors (including established Liverpool actress Eithne Browne from Brookside, Brick-up The Mersey Tunnels and Tartuffe) will perform excerpts from Dickens’ most popular family tales on the 12th and 13th April.

The performances will take place at St George’s Concert Room, which Dickens himself once described as the most perfect hall in the world, and the show will include excerpts from Oliver, Great Expectations and Hard Times.
